Bottle Bell

 

I decided to work on the bottle bell yesterday. I had to trim the base plate down and I don't feel comfortable using the cutting torch inside the shop, so I set up outside and cut it down to the proper dimension to fit the 6x6 post.

The box in the photo got welded to the heavy base plate. I'll grind down the welds today and then, other than paint, it'll be ready for installation. The bell needs to be cleaned up with the wire wheel and I need to find the clapper that's been floating around here for years. I'm not sure I'll have any luck with locating it, but making a new one won't be hard. I'm waiting on the Missus to pick a color for the project and then I'll dig the post hole and I'll be able to check one off the list. Rather a low priority job, but since we're trying to get organized around here, seemed like a good idea.
